Overview
Strategy case on EssilorLuxottica, assessing how the group’s digital initiatives, data assets, IT architecture and AI capabilities support its strategic pillars, and proposing a 2027-30 transformation roadmap.
The project was delivered in two outputs:
Key Tasks
- Mapping of four digital initiatives and seven data sources across consumers, partners and patients
- Strategic alignment matrix linking initiatives, data and IT to the group’s strategic pillars
- Gap analysis across data integration, IT architecture and AI adoption
- Risk mapping of the proposed transformation moves
- Costed 2027-30 roadmap with an interactive investment simulator
Core Insights
Fragmented data foundation: two ERPs with no group-wide data layer limit integration across the value chain
AI gap in operations: no AI deployed in supply chain or back-office, despite strong consumer-facing initiatives
Limited reach and data control: partner platform available only in the US, and smart-glasses data held by Meta
Proposed roadmap: four moves, from ERP unification to new data-sharing terms with Meta, in a ~€0.5-0.8bn 2027-30 plan, with payback tested through the investment simulator.
